The Geospatial Cognition Lab officially launches at Oklahoma State University! After years of research on firefighter navigation, emergency wayfinding, and spatial decision-making, we're thrilled to have a home base for this work. Dr. Chelsie McWhorter joins Oklahoma State University as an Assistant Professor in the Fire & Emergency Management Administration program. She brings expertise developed through her Ph.D. work at UC Santa Barbara, where she worked with faculty in both Geography and Psychology on firefighter navigation and spatial cognition research. Her academic journey began at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she earned her BA in Criminal Justice and MS in Geography. Combined with over a decade of experience in the fire service, she's excited to build a research program that bridges academia and the first responder community.
